STALKER Clear Sky Ending = Lame
October 8, 2008
This ending is so lame, I actually thought I was doing something wrong over and over again. You’re supposed to “deactivate Strelok’s Psy-Protection” by shooting him almost 20 times with your gun. The first couple of times he got away from me, ran up the stairs and this catastrophic release of emissions from the CNPP triggered a cutscene that ended the game and went right to the credits. Well, tonight, I hit him a bunch of times, his psy-protection bar went to zero, tried shooting him a few more times, and the SAME EXACT CUTSCENE ended the game. You can’t go back, you can’t fight the rest of the enemies in the CNNP level. Just end the game, walk away disappointed in another Stalker Single Player game. I mean, what a great game this almost was, now I have to come on here and talk shit about it. Not Cool GsC, or DeepSilver, whoevers responsible for this rubbish.
Am I missing something?
VIDEO: GSC Crew Visits Chernobyl
April 6, 2008
Here’s a video of the THQ, GSC developers of STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, taking a trip through the exclusion zone I suppose to collect textures, ideas, and a feel for what it’s like in the zone, and what it “could” have been like. I see they visit Pripyat, the venture to the gates of CNPP (Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant).

My hats off to the crew for taking the trip, it really gave the game that extra bit of reality that makes it what it is. The only thing is, I fear for their safety as they were probably fed the usual “its a clean zone now” the disaster is over… far from it, scores of investigations into the zone have proven that there are unpredictable radiation “flare ups” and record levels of 10,000+ rem (10 rem is avg in NYC) as far away as Pripyat. Here’s an article about questionable Soviet data about the dangers of the zone. It’s tempting to want to check out CNPP for oneself, but it’s very hazardous, not because of mutated enemies, but an invisible killer that you probably never knew passed through you.
