Tweaking Stalker for Multiplayer

This section deals with ways to tweak Stalker’s setting files to your advantage while playing multiplayer. These aren’t cheats, rather a modification of the user.ltx file’s various settings that affect pretty much everything you see and control.

The user.ltx file can be found in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\STALKER-SHOC

Depending on your own particular system specs, you may want to play around with settings that affect your FPS. But there are a few settings we can all benefit by.

Changing Net_Cl_interpolation for me appears to slow down characters, again, not as a cheat, it just smooths out their motion and makes the game more realistic.  I can’t stress enough how much this setting helped, but since each system is different (almost), you might not be as fortunate.

Other settings that you can play with deal more with your own preference I’ve noticed, whether you want more brightness, contrast,  etc. But there are a few that might increase your FPS as well, here’s some of the settings I changed in my user.ltx file.  If you want to find out what they do exactly, follow the links at the bottom of this post to the official Stalker tweak guide.  Warning, changing these settings got me accused of being a cheater within minutes, that’s how much the game changed in my favor, and it’s purely a matter of changing a text file — Also, these settings are not in the same order as they appear in your user.ltx file, so don’t cut and paste.  Many people underestimate the power of this, and I may have called alot of people cheaters without good reason.

Ping Rates for STALKER Server

Wanted to make note of the various Ping responses from players around the world on our STALK THE PLANET Multiplayer Server based out of New Jersey, USA. Of course since the server is on the East Coast of the USA, New Jersey and New York enjoy the lowest response times. Another reason why I’d love to see more USA Stalkers join in on multiplayer… as of right now it’s filled with people that don’t speak english, which isn’t a bad thing, but it’s indicitive of the fact that there’s very few North Americans playing STALKER. Maybe its a matter of taste, but I certainly love Singly Player and most aspects of multiplayer and I’ve been American all my life.
