Funny STALKER MP Game Tonight
April 28, 2008
Saw a few guys in the server tonight, some were AFK but a 2 were playing so I jumped in. I was outnumbered 2 to 1, wasn’t taking it too seriously, trying to make it difficult for them to score rather than make unprotected runs for the artifact. The game was going along pretty poorly for me, was down 12 points to 0, because they kept making mad dashes for the artifact. I racked up about 20 kills as opposed to their combined kills of 7 on me. I have to stress, I wasn’t “camping” or sitting on the base until the very end of the match when all the drama started. I would do the usual stick and move, stop listen for footsteps, try to eliminate what’s creating that sound, and move on to the next location, usually in the middle of the map, so to say that it’s being a “base camper” proves one’s ignorance to STALKER MP. I’m no expert, I’ve just played this game alot from both sides and know the intricacies of each level’s most dangerous and enlightened positions.
Anyway, I think one or more of these guys got tired of just scoring over and over without me going for it (i was trying to catch them and pick it up after they drop) and they began to camp to try and get me. Then they steadily began to flank both sides of my spawn area looking for me, and by chance it just began that they pinned me down there. I would let loose frag after frag and caught them 7 or 8 times because they predictably squatted in one of 4 places. So, one of the other team members switches to my side and just starts tyring to frag me, his new team mate. When I asked why he bluntly answered, “Because you are a pansy, you keep shooting from the spawn point.”
I tried to explain if he hadn’t incessantly encroached on my spawn area making it impossible for me to move but he wouldn’t stop trying to frag me. This went on for a full 5 minutes, me and him running in circles around the base camp trying to push each other off so the other would die in a hail of friendly fire. He got me once admittedly because I stopped to type, he pushed me right off base and fragged me. Meanwhile the other guy in the game left, then when I switched to Freedom so we could bang it out one on one (something I would definitely beat him at), he disconnected within seconds.
Who is the “real” pansy here?
Let me explain something. When you have 2 enemies closing in on you from all sides entering the building right where you spawn, you have two choices, stand your ground and fight, or die. Anyone who has a problem with that is literally a sore loser, because he is probably getting killed by you more often for being stupid and too brave. So instead of stammering around multiplayer games like a baby demanding people to stop camping on base, simply stop encroaching onto their base and they wouldn’t have to. Just play your game with a little smarts, a little ediquitte, and a little manners and everyone will get along. Don’t you agree?
Moreover, show some multiplayer ediquette already. You’re up by a dozen points, outnumbering your enemy 2:1 and you are complaining about something? Get real. The only thing that comes to mind are the words “sore winner.” That’s when you’re winning but the cost of winning is so great the taste of victory isn’t so sweet. Sort of like the war in Iraq now. See how frustrating my strategy can be to the enemy?
Hardware Matters in Stalker Multiplayer
April 27, 2008
How big is your screen?

I only ask, because you might be at disadvantage in Stalker Multiplayer before you even lace up your radioactive slacks. I often wondered if upgrading to a larger display would adversely affect my gameplay or enhance it. Within a few short hours, all the wondering was set aside, and as I will explain, I quickly gave up using a relatively small 21″ LCD and now use a dell 3007wfp 30″ display. I call this a natural cheat because it’s a way of getting an edge over other players in a “natural” way. You can’t really blame or accuse someone of “using a bigger monitor than me” as this is a “natural” occurrence in the gaming world and the real world.
I can tell you for certain, on average I get 25% more frags per game thanks to a 30″ widescreen monitor, simply because characters appear for me sooner than I appear for others. As with the real world, a fraction of a second can mean life or death, and alike with a low ping rate, blending into the background while your enemy takes shape will mean a victory for you (as long as your aim is true). I am literally able to see people walking through cracks at a much higher rate than someone on a smaller LCD, resulting in me being called a cheater on numerous occasion; the usual response being, “how’d you know where I was? You must be hacking!” Well, now you know, and I didn’t do a single thing except spend more money than most.
Your Other hardware must match your display.
Most of you can’t just up and buy a display of such high native resolution, in my case 2560×1600, without a little video card juice. I’m no expert, and have not been able to try out EVERY option available, but I can tell you what configuration works for me and helps me get many many frags per game (hardware matters alot). I’m using dual nvidia geforce 8800gtx cards in SLI mode (to help with 3d drawing and performance), 3gb pc6400 ddr, intel q6600 quad core processor, slow compared to many others, but I bought this for business, not necessarily game play so the CPU can be better.
Overclocking for Stalker
I don’t typically overclock and won’t do so on this machine for this game, and can’t tell you if it helps in multiplayer. If it does, I’m sure it can’t be much more than the tweaks and other hardware upgrades you can “naturally”
Ping Matters
Ping rate really does matter after much thought, and hardware can effect it to some degree. More on this later.
